Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The member representing Toto\/ Gadabuke Constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Mr Mohammed Isimbabi,<\/p>\n

has defected from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC.<\/p>\n

The Speaker of the House, Mr Danladi Jatau, who made the announcement while reading Isimbabi\u2019s defection letter during proceedings on Monday in Lafia, said the lawmaker cited division in NNPP at the national level as the major reason for his defection to APC.<\/p>\n

Jatau commended Isimbabi for his bold step in joining the ruling APC in the state, adding that his defection would add value to the party.<\/p>\n

Also speaking, the APC chairman in the state, Alhaji Aliyu Bello, commended Isimbabi for joining the party and assured him of equity and fairness.<\/p>\n

On his part, Mr Musa Abubakar( NNPP- Doma South), while congratulating Isimbabi on his defection, said that he would also join APC soon.<\/p>\n

He said: \u201cHon Isimbabi\u2019s defection is a welcome development. We share common political interests. I will be leaving NNPP soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

Responding, Isimbabi said that he defected from NNPP due to the division within the party at the national level.<\/p>\n

He, however, appreciated NNPP for giving him the platform to vie for election which he won to become a member of the assembly.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker said that he would continue to serve his people in order to improve their standard of living.<\/p>\n

\u201cBefore taking this decision, I have gone round the six electoral wards of my constituency to consult them on my defection.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have given me the go ahead to defect to APC,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
