Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Osun State Government has warned tricycle operators in the state to ensure they have all the necessary documents for their vehicles.<\/p>\n

The state government issued this warning through a statement by Yakubu Adejare, the Special Adviser to Governor Ademola Adeleke on Transportation, on Thursday in Osogbo.<\/p>\n

The government urged the tricycle operators to obtain documents such as a hackney permit, roadworthiness certificate, and vehicle license.<\/p>\n

The directive was revealed due to recent intelligence indicating that tricycle operators were being used by criminals to wreak havoc on unsuspecting innocent residents of the state.<\/p>\n

The government also revealed that these operators usually go scot-free because they do not have any registered particulars with the transport ministry.<\/p>\n

The state government warned that violators of this directive will henceforth be made to pay full penalties, as operating a tricycle without the necessary documents is now regarded as a traffic offense.<\/p>\n

The statement reads in part: \u201cWe have recently discovered that many tricycle operators in Osun State are on the roads without the necessary documents. It is regarded as a traffic offense henceforth.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll tricycle operators must ensure they obtain the necessary documents before they hit the road with their vehicles. Officials from OTRAM and the VIO will soon begin stop-and-search operations.<\/p>\n

\u201cTricycles are being used to perpetrate evil by criminals; any operator who refuses to obtain their particulars will henceforth be regarded as an agent of evil.\u201d<\/p>\n
