Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Gunmen on Friday attacked Ogbaru Local Government Area secretariat, destroying some buildings and other properties.<\/p>\n

Sources said that the gunmen arrived in their numbers and opened fire, destroying buildings within the headquarters of the council area.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that no lives were lost in the incident.<\/p>\n

Though details of the attack are still sketchy as of the time of filing this report, police authorities have confirmed it.<\/p>\n

State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said: \u201cThe attack was on Ogbaru LGA in the early hours of today, 30\/8\/2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecurity operatives gallantly resisted the gunmen, but some LGA properties were destroyed, some buildings were also affected, but no lives were lost.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said a joint security operation was ongoing in the area.<\/p>\n

This would not be the first time Ogbaru Local Government headquarters has been attacked by gunmen.<\/p>\n

A previous attack on the secretariat left buildings and cars within the premises burned. It is not clear who the attackers are, but fingers have always pointed at secessionist elements.<\/p>\n
