Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Police in Katsina state have arrested three suspected gunrunners in the state.<\/p>\n

The Command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, PPRO, ASP Abubakar Aliyu made this disclosure to newsmen at a press briefing on Friday.<\/p>\n

According to him, a large cache of ammunition was recovered from the suspects.<\/p>\n

Aliyu said that the trio were arrested by the police on Aug. 29, at about 12:45 am in Dutsina Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201dThey were arrested while attempting to deliver 740 rounds of live 7.62mm ammunition to suspected armed bandits in Yauni forest, Ummadau village, Safana LGA of Katsina State.\u201d<\/p>\n

The PPRO added that preliminary investigation revealed that the suspects received the ammunition from someone in Nasarawa State to deliver to one Harisu, a suspected notorious bandit kingpin, currently at large.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have confessed to their involvement and implicated Harisu as the mastermind,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He said that the command was working tirelessly to apprehend more suspects and bring them to justice.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis achievement demonstrates our commitment to combating armed banditry and gunrunning in Katsina State and beyond,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
