Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Members of the Association of Resident Doctors across the country, on Monday, resumed duty after a one-week strike action to press the federal authorities for the release of two of their members in kidnappers captivity.<\/p>\n

Three members were initially abducted, but one was later released after payment of ransom.<\/p>\n

The victims have so far spent eight months, according to credible sources.<\/p>\n

In a telephone chat in Ilorin on Monday, the chairman of the association at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital branch, Dr Muhammed Yusuf, said the association is giving the government another three-week ultimatum to resolve the issue.<\/p>\n

He said the government pleaded that the strike be called off pending when the victims would be rescued, as the kidnappers could likely raise the stake again if the strike continues.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe National Executive Council of the association resolved to give the government three weeks again within which to rescue the victims and then know the next line of action if nothing is done,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The members of the association commenced a one-week strike action last Monday to force the government to rescue the victims.<\/p>\n
