Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, Katsina State Command, has arrested a 60-year old man for allegedly vandalising high-tension electric wire.<\/p>\n

The command\u2019s spokesman, DSP Buhari Hamisu, disclosed this to newsmen while parading the suspect in Katsina.<\/p>\n

Hamisu said the suspect, Hassan Abdullahi, was arrested by the NSCDC personnel of the Funtua Division.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe special Anti vandal patrol team attached to Funtua division, successfully apprehended the suspect, of Lasanawa village in Maska, Funtua Local Government Areas.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe suspect was later handed to the state command headquarters for further investigation.<\/p>\n

\u201dAbubakar is a suspected vandal of high tension electric cables belonging to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and theft.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring investigation, the suspect confessed to committing the crimes and revealed that on Aug. 28, 2024, he went to the outskirts of the village, climbed high tension electric poles and vandalised the wires.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe also disclosed that he removed different items, packed some of the items in bags and headed to scrap dealers at Funtua town,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to him, further investigation revealed that the suspect met two scrap dealers in Funtua town who refused to buy the items from him.<\/p>\n

He said the exhibits recovered from the suspect included angle iron, Channel iron, pension clamp, strap, isolator handle and scattered disc insulator.<\/p>\n

Hamisu said other exhibits were adaptor socket, bolt and nuts, J-huck, spindles, electric aluminum conductors, spanner, pinches and iron rod.<\/p>\n

He further said that the suspect would be charged to a competent court for prosecution after the completion of the investigation.<\/p>\n

The NSCDC spokesman called on the good people of the state to be law-abiding and obey rules and regulations.<\/p>\n

He said that the command would not relent in its commitments to uncover all the activities of vandals, economic saboteurs and other criminals in the state.<\/p>\n

Hamisu said the corps in the state also thanked the public for the continuous cooperation.<\/p>\n

He urged for more support to the security agencies by providing actionable and timely intelligence that would help uncover the activities of miscreants in the State.<\/p>\n

Hamisu said the command remained dedicated to ensuring a peaceful atmosphere for the good people of the state and Nigeria as a whole.<\/p>\n
