Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Borno State Police Command has recovered eleven decomposed bodies from various locations in Maiduguri, the state capital, as rescue operations continue across the affected areas.<\/p>\n

The massive flooding in Borno State has caused a lot of damage as it ravages through the state.<\/p>\n

Thousands of families trapped in Maiduguri flooded areas were evacuated to safer areas by the military, volunteers and other security agencies.<\/p>\n

The Supervising Police Public Relations Officer for the Northeast, SP Ahmed Wakil, in a statement issued to journalists in Bauchi on Friday, assured that the Command remains committed to minimising further loss of life and ensuring the safety of Maiduguri\u2019s residents during the challenging time.<\/p>\n

The statement reads, \u201cThe joint efforts by CP Yusufu Mohammed Lawal psc, as well as the dedicated officers and men of the command, are actively engaged in addressing the flood disaster in Maiduguri metropolis (MMC).<\/p>\n

\u201cRegrettably, a total of eleven decomposed corpses have been recovered as a result of the recent flood disaster, and the rescue operations are currently ongoing.<\/p>\n

\u201cFollowing reports from various divisions, including Lamisula, Jere, GRA, Bulabulin, and Dandal Divisional Police Headquarters in Maiduguri, it was confirmed that a total of 11 drowned corpses were recovered in different areas between the hours of 1000hrs to 1400hrs on 11\/09\/2024 and 12\/09\/2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cGiven the gravity of this tragic situation, the Command is committed to dedicating all possible efforts to ensure that recovery and rescue operations are carried out effectively in the affected communities.\u201d<\/p>\n
