Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Enugu State Police Command, on Sunday, confirmed the murder of the chairman, Ogbete Main Market Traders Association (OMATA), Enugu, Mr Stephen Aniago.<\/p>\n

Aniago was murdered Saturday night by gunmen suspected to be assassins at the Topland area of Enugu State.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, Enugu Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, he said the Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu had charged tactical operatives to ensure that the suspects were hunted down.<\/p>\n

According to Ndukwe, \u201cA preliminary investigation reveals that the unknown armed hoodlums, operating in another Toyota Corolla car, double-crossed and shot the victim, making away with his blue-coloured Toyota Corolla car.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was taken to the hospital by police operatives who hastened to the scene but was confirmed dead by doctors. His corpse was deposited in the mortuary for preservation and further investigative actions.\u201d<\/p>\n

He said the Commissioner of Police had ordered tactical squads of the Command that were on the trail of the assailants \u201cto deploy all the intelligence and operational resources at their disposal to hunt the criminals down.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe also orders the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the State CID to conduct a discreet investigation to unravel the circumstances of the incident.<\/p>\n

\u201cCP Kanayo assures the public that the police will leave no stone unturned in bringing the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book soonest.\u201d<\/p>\n
