Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The House of Representatives Committee on the Navy has announced that it will investigate the detention of naval personnel, Abbas Haruna, who has been held for six years.<\/p>\n

Mr Haruna was allegedly detained at the behest of Brigadier General M.S. Adamu.<\/p>\n

Yusuf Gagdi, the Chairman of the Committee, made this announcement on Monday in a statement shared on his official handle.<\/p>\n

In the statement, Mr Gagdi, a lawmaker from Plateau State, said his committee would ensure that those involved in the matter are held accountable for their actions.<\/p>\n

It will be recalled that Mr Haruna\u2019s wife, during an appearance on the popular Abuja radio show *Brekete Family*, recounted how her husband was detained without trial.<\/p>\n

Mr Gagdi described the detention of the naval personnel as \u201cinhumane\u201d and a violation of his rights as guaranteed by the 1999 Constitution.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe degree of heartlessness exhibited by Brigadier General M.S. Adamu towards his subordinate over a minor incident has drawn widespread condemnation from millions of concerned Nigerians who heard the story,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
