Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye has said the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Working Committee, NWC, has been infiltrated by the All Progressives Congress, APC, under the leadership of the acting National Chairman, Umar Damagun.<\/p>\n

Melaye made the remark in reaction to the just-concluded governorship election in Edo State.<\/p>\n

Posting on X, the former lawmaker said the Edo State governorship election had shown that Damagun would destroy the party.<\/p>\n

According to Melaye: \u201cWith the destroyer called Damagun on the wheels, PDP is in the departure lounge waiting for the boarding pass.<\/p>\n

\u201cEdo experience will be a joke, there are more APC in the NWC than PDP.\u201d<\/p>\n

PDP\u2019s governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo lost the Saturday\u2019s election.<\/p>\n

Results by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, said the PDP governorship candidate polled 247,274 votes.<\/p>\n

The Returning Officer, Prof. Faruk Adamu Kuta declared Monday Okpebholo of the APC winner of the election after garnering 291,667 votes.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Melaye had previously accused Damagum of attempting to destroy the former ruling party.<\/p>\n

Melaye said the PDP founding fathers like Alex Ekwueme, Solomon Lar, Sunday Awoniyi, Adamu Chiroma, Tony Anenih, and Abubakar Rimi would be turning in their graves over Damagum\u2019s leadership style.<\/p>\n
