Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Bauchi State Police Command has apprehended two students from the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU) for alleged criminal conspiracy, housebreaking and theft.<\/p>\n

This was disclosed in a statement made available to journalists by the spokesman of the Command, SP Mohammed Wakil on Friday.<\/p>\n

According to the statement, \u201cOn 26 September 2024, at approximately 10:00 AM, an anonymous individual reported to the Divisional Police Headquarters Yelwa that a group of students had assaulted two of their peers: Bamusa Mohammed Bako, a 25-year-old 400 level student of Urban and Regional Planning, and Yusuf Umar (also known as Danfari), a 28-year-old 500 level student of Industrial Design, both of ATBU Yelwa Campus.\u201d<\/p>\n

The statement further disclosed that upon receiving the report, a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Yelwa was immediately dispatched to the scene to rescue the victims and initiate an investigation.<\/p>\n

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects conspired and, at about 3:00 AM on the same day, broke into the residence of Raji Rabi\u2019u, a 28-year-old 400 level student of Estate Management at ATBU, Bauchi.<\/p>\n

They allegedly stole several items, including, a 32-inch Hisense TV, A DSTV decoder, a woofer, speaker, pair of shoes, blanket and prayer mat.<\/p>\n

Wakil added that the suspects are currently under investigation and have reportedly confessed to the crime, stating that the stolen items were intended to fund their final-year project defense.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey will be charged in court once the preliminary inquiry is concluded,\u201d Wakil said.<\/p>\n
