1. Preparation for today\u2019s Rivers State local government election almost degenerated into chaos on Friday after an angry Governor Siminialayi Fubara stormed the premises of the State Independent Electoral Commission, RISIEC, in Port Harcourt at about 1 am on Friday, alleging plot by the police to scuttle the poll. He lashed out at the police authority, labeled the plot nonsense and said the state had had enough of it.<\/p>\n

2. The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has revealed that it sold a total of $543.5 million (N844,920,000,000.00) to authorised dealer banks through the Nigerian Foreign Exchange Market (NFEM) between September 6 and 30, 2024. This move was part of the apex bank\u2019s efforts to reduce volatility in the foreign exchange market amid rising demand for foreign exchange (FX) driven by commodity imports and seasonal pressures.<\/p>\n
