The West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) on Friday released the result of the 2019 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE). The examination body disclosed this during a chat with newsmen in Lagos. The council had urged candidates not indebted to the council to access and check their results online, using the result checker PIN on their smart identity cards used during the conduct of the examination.<\/p>\n<p>2 President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday said that the Economic and Recovery Growth Plan launched by his administration in 2017 is creating the enabling environment for growth, security and economic revival. In a goodwill message to the Government and people of Liberia on behalf of Nigeria on the occasion of the 172nd independence anniversary of the West African nation, Buhari said his administration had realized the futility in continuing to subject the Nigerian economy to the vagaries of its mono-product dependence and has instituted policies aimed at the diversifying the national economy which are yielding positive results.<\/p>\n<p>3. There was a mild drama at the Senate on Friday as Senator representing Kogi West Senatorial district, Dino Melaye demanded that one of the President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s ministerial nominee, Festus Keyamo, recite the National anthem. Keyamo, who is among Buhari\u2019s 43-man list submitted to the Senate on Tuesday for screening and approval, appeared before members of the upper legislative chamber on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>4. The House of Representatives ad hoc committee on Media and Publicity, on Friday, spoke on the relationship between the Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila and Director-General of the Gbajabiamila\/Wase Campaign organisation, Hon. Abdulmumin Jibrin. The Committee also said that the Speaker had fulfilled his promise to opposition parties in terms of committee . Yusuf Gaji, a member of the Committee, who briefed newsmen said there was no rancour between Hon. Jibrin and the Speaker.<\/p>\n<p>5. Deputy Governor of Kogi State, Simon Achuba, on Friday said his relationship with his principal, Governor Yahaya Bello is not smooth. He said the sour relationship with Governor Bello began since his statutory allowances amounting to N819,709, 980 were stopped by the governor two years ago .The Deputy Governor said he was only surviving by God\u2019s grace. He, however, added that he has no plans of contesting against Bello in the forthcoming elections despite the treatment meted out to him.<\/p>\n<p>6. The Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on National Assembly matters, Dr Ita Enang on Friday reacted to the \u201ctake a bow policy\u201d the Senate adopted during the ministerial screening. Enang said that the \u201ctake a bow policy\u201d of the nominees was not unusual. Enang said the practice is often permitted in several parliaments around the world.<\/p>\n<p>7. A former Governor of Imo State Rochas Okorocha, on Friday alleged that some properties belonging to his wife sealed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, were being looted. He accused Governor Emeka Ihedioha-led Imo State government of looting the properties sealed by the anti-graft agency.<\/p>\n<p>8. The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) yesterday warned the general public to be careful of the consumption of animal hides, known as Ponmo. The agency stated that most of these animal hides are meant for industrial use. It added that some of these animal hides were pre-treated with industrial chemicals, which were not of food grade and were toxic and injurious to human health.<\/p>\n<p>9. Festus Keyamo (SAN), the ministerial nominee for Delta on Friday said he will unbundle the Supreme Court if made the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation. Keyamo disclosed this while taking questions from members of the Senate at the ongoing ministerial screening exercise in Abuja. The human right activist, who was the fourth nominee to appear in the red Chamber on Friday, said it was \u201cscandalous\u201d to have only one Supreme Court in Abuja, attending to the whole country.<\/p>\n<p>10. The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mohammed Adamu, on Friday cautioned the public against circulating unsubstantiated security advisories that could create undue fear and apprehension in the country. Adamu gave the advice at the backdrop of violent protests by Shi\u2019ite group in Abuja.
