{"id":133801,"date":"2024-10-10T20:45:26","date_gmt":"2024-10-10T19:45:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/police-debunk-rumours-of-human-parts-dumped-in-port-harcourt"},"modified":"2024-10-10T21:49:25","modified_gmt":"2024-10-10T20:49:25","slug":"police-debunk-rumours-of-human-parts-dumped-in-port-harcourt","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/police-debunk-rumours-of-human-parts-dumped-in-port-harcourt","title":{"rendered":"Police debunk rumours of human parts dumped in Port Harcourt"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Rivers State Police Command has dismissed viral social media reports claiming that seven bags containing decapitated human bodies were found dumped behind the Omega Power Ministries on Iwofe Road, in the Obio\/Akpor Local Government Area.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement by the command\u2019s Public Relations Officer, Grace Iringe-Koko, the police clarified that after the rumours surfaced, they promptly collaborated with the Rivers State Waste Management Agency, RIWAMA, to investigate the contents of the bags.<\/p>\n<p>The sole administrator of RIWAMA, Prince Ohia Obi, led the agency\u2019s public health team in the examination, according to the command.<\/p>\n<p>It was discovered that the bags contained poultry waste, not human parts, and had been dumped by unknown individuals.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added: \u201cThe Rivers State Waste Management Agency has since evacuated the debris to one of the designated dumpsites in the city of Port Harcourt.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The police condemned the rumour as the work of mischief-makers aimed at causing panic and unrest.<\/p>\n<p>Iringe-Koko urged the public to ignore such false alarms and warned against the spread of misinformation.
