{"id":133869,"date":"2024-10-11T23:08:22","date_gmt":"2024-10-11T22:08:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/edo-election-your-allegation-against-pdp-baseless-unsubstantiated-inec-tells-apc"},"modified":"2024-10-12T00:12:33","modified_gmt":"2024-10-11T23:12:33","slug":"edo-election-your-allegation-against-pdp-baseless-unsubstantiated-inec-tells-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/edo-election-your-allegation-against-pdp-baseless-unsubstantiated-inec-tells-apc","title":{"rendered":"Edo election: Your allegation against PDP baseless, unsubstantiated \u2013 INEC tells APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has described as baseless, allegations made by the All Progressives Congress, APC, regarding the purported smuggling of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System, BVAS, machines and voters\u2019 registers into the INEC office by members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.<\/p>\n<p>In a statement by Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Edo State, INEC said that a thorough investigation has been carried out to find the allegations as baseless and unsubstantiated.<\/p>\n<p>The APC, which was subsequently declared winner of the election by INEC, had made the claim during the September 21, 2024 governorship election in the state.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Edo State, has concluded its thorough investigation into the allegations made by the All Progressives Congress (APC) regarding the purported smuggling of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines and voters\u2019 registers into the INEC office by members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFollowing a comprehensive review of the allegations, it has been determined that the allegations are baseless, unsubstantiated, and entirely without merit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cINEC maintains a steadfast commitment to upholding the integrity of the electoral process, and at no time were the BVAS machines or voters\u2019 registers compromised or unlawfully accessed by any political party or external entity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe fully understand the gravity of such claims, which is why the investigation was conducted with the utmost rigor and impartiality. As an institution charged with the sacred responsibility of ensuring free, fair, and credible elections, INEC will not tolerate any form of malpractice or manipulation, and the integrity of all electoral materials remains fully intact.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn light of these findings, we are in full compliance with the recent court order directing the inspection of electoral materials, including the BVAS machines and voters\u2019 registers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cINEC is prepared to facilitate this inspection process, ensuring transparency and adherence to the rule of law. We urge all parties to cooperate fully during this process.
