Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Senator representing Edo South in the National Assembly, Neda Imasuen, has faulted the policies of the current administration.<\/p>\n

He frowned at the Tinubu administration\u2019s decisions to remove the petrol subsidy and unify forex windows.<\/p>\n

Imasuen, of the Labour Party (LP), and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Ethics, Privileges, and Public Petitions, was a guest on Sunday\u2019s edition of Inside Sources on Channels Television.<\/p>\n

According to him, it is Nigerians, especially the middle class, that are paying too much of a price for Tinubu\u2019s so-called reforms.<\/p>\n

According to the lawmaker, the legislature can only support the executive and hope that their plan takes us to the destination.<\/p>\n

The lawmaker, however, believes the situation at hand is not one for trading blame, but rather a time when people should sit down and seek solutions to the suffering of the masses.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe steps that are being taken, I\u2019m afraid that the suffering that Nigerians are going through right now is too much of a price to pay for it,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, this is a country that we don\u2019t produce; we import, and we are devaluing our naira. I don\u2019t see how that is going to help us. Everything is tied to the dollar, and the dollar keeps going up.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s develop our industries. These SMEs work a lot if we can strengthen small and medium enterprises and give the middle class breathing space to do what they have to do.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn this question of subsidy, there is no country that does not subsidise, especially in the area of agriculture.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday, many cannot buy a bag of rice; it\u2019s about N100,000.\u201d<\/p>\n
