Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Cross River, Mr Asuquo Ada, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).<\/p>\n

Ada\u2019s defection followed several other defections that have hit the opposition party in the state in recent times.<\/p>\n

Ada told NAN in Calabar on Friday that he had decided to move on with his political career in APC which rules at the state and Federal levels.<\/p>\n

Ada, a campaign Director-General to one of the PDP governorship aspirants in the 2023 general elections, had earlier announced his resignation from the PDP through a letter.<\/p>\n

The letter, dated October 23, was addressed to the Enong Ward leadership of the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cI find conviction finally to resolve in favour of my embattled decision to resign membership of the Peoples Democratic Party as situations have so demand\u2019\u2019, Ada said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s indeed a fact that change remains a constant situation that affects life situations when nature directs changes to life narratives.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no choice than to wish the party well while I dedicate my further political sojourn to the Almighty God\u2019s directive\u201d, Ada said in the letter.<\/p>\n

He was an ally of Gershom Bassey, a 2023 governorship aspirant of the PDP and a former Senator who represented Cross River South at the National Assembly between 2015 and 2023.<\/p>\n

The former Senator was a founding member of the PDP in Cross River.<\/p>\n
