Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Kano State Government has announced a restriction on movement across the state ahead of Saturday\u2019s local government elections.<\/p>\n

Commissioner for Information Baba Halilu Dantiye announced this on Friday, saying the precautionary measure guarantees the safety of lives and property during the elections.<\/p>\n

Dantiye said the restriction, effective from midnight to 6 pm on election day, aims to ensure a peaceful and orderly conduct of the polls.<\/p>\n

\u201cOnly essential services personnel, including election officials, security personnel, and accredited journalists, are exempt from the restriction.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe government urges the public to comply with the directive and cooperate with security agencies. Residents are encouraged to exercise their civic rights peacefully and avoid disrupting the election.<\/p>\n

\u201cSecurity agencies are on high alert across the 44 local government areas, with checkpoints established to monitor compliance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

On his part, the chairman of the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission, KANSIEC, Prof. Lawal Malumfashi, assured citizens of the commission\u2019s readiness to conduct a credible election, urging voters to come out and cast their votes.<\/p>\n

Malumfashi named the political parties participating in the council election as Action Alliance, Zenith Labour Party, and New Nigeria Peoples Party, among others.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are fully prepared to conduct free, fair and credible elections across the 44 local government areas in the state,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
