Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>An Osogbo Chief Magistrates\u2019 Court has ordered the remand of a truck driver, Adebayo Olayinka, at the Ilesa Correctional Centre for allegedly causing one Adebayo Tajudeen\u2019s death due to dangerous driving.<\/p>\n

The magistrate, Dr Olusegun Ayilara, gave the order on Thursday and hinged his decision on \u201cthe magnitude of the offence\u201d allegedly committed by the defendant.<\/p>\n

Ayilara, who opposed the bail application by the defendant\u2019s counsel, Mr Oladipupo Olatunbosun, adjourned the case to December 23 for mention.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the defendant had pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of manslaughter and dangerous driving when the charge was read to him.<\/p>\n

The police prosecutor, ASP Akintunde Jacob, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on October 19, at about 7:30 pm at the Old Garage area in Osogbo.<\/p>\n

Jacob said that the defendant drove a Howo Sino Truck with Reg. No. SGB 961 XY in a dangerous manner that led to Tajudeen\u2019s death.<\/p>\n

He further said that the offence committed contravened sections 18 and 27 of the Road Traffic Laws, Vol. 11, Cap 146 and 548 of the Laws of Osun 2002.<\/p>\n
