{"id":136580,"date":"2024-11-02T21:18:04","date_gmt":"2024-11-02T20:18:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/gov-adeleke-advocates-unity-at-opening-of-south-west-pdp-secretariat"},"modified":"2024-11-02T22:31:48","modified_gmt":"2024-11-02T21:31:48","slug":"gov-adeleke-advocates-unity-at-opening-of-south-west-pdp-secretariat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/gov-adeleke-advocates-unity-at-opening-of-south-west-pdp-secretariat","title":{"rendered":"Gov Adeleke advocates unity at opening of South West PDP Secretariat"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has urged unity and harmony within the Southwest chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to deepen and widen the electoral fortunes of the party.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the commissioning of the South West Secretariat of the party at Ibadan, named after the late zonal Vice Chairman, Soji Adagunodo, Governor Adeleke appealed for the closing of ranks in memory of the former party leader.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Governor, \u201cthe significance of today\u2019s event is the clarion call for unity and deeper brotherhood among PDP at home and abroad. We must forget the past of division and unite for the good of our dear party.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is better for us to fight each other inside Government House than outside. We must refocus attention on building strong administrative operational structures.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith that, we can deploy for elections, retain our existing states and even expand our reach across the six zones of the federation,\u201d the Governor told top leaders of the PDP including members of the National Working Committee attending the commissioning\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFirst is that we are opening a major administrative hub for the party in the South West at a very critical point in our national life.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSecond is that the naming of the Secretariat is after my late brother, Soji Adagunodo, a top political leader and ally from my state before his transition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am therefore in a sober mood because our brother is not here with us to witness the honour being done to his memory. I pray God Almighty grant him eternal rest,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the commissioning, the host, Governor Seyi Makinde reiterated Governor Adeleke\u2019s admonition for unity within the PDP.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Makinde noted that the presence of warring parties of the past at the commissioning was a sign that the party was now one in the zone.<\/p>\n<p>He advised that leaders and members of the party should forget the bickering of the past and join hands to expand the party\u2019s victory in future contests, hailing Governor Adeleke for his magnanimity and sense of responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>The new zonal Secretariat contains state of the art facilities for administrative and operational activities of the PDP for the zone.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Nigeria Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
