{"id":136607,"date":"2024-11-02T21:22:17","date_gmt":"2024-11-02T20:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/former-delta-deputy-governor-utuama-dead"},"modified":"2024-11-02T22:33:57","modified_gmt":"2024-11-02T21:33:57","slug":"former-delta-deputy-governor-utuama-dead","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/former-delta-deputy-governor-utuama-dead","title":{"rendered":"Former Delta Deputy Governor Utuama dead"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A former Delta State deputy governor, Amos Utuama, has died at the age of 77.<\/p>\n<p>Utuama was said to have died in Warri, Delta State, in the early hours of Saturday after a protracted illness.<\/p>\n<p>The deceased ex-deputy governor was a renowned law teacher who excelled as Commissioner for Justice and Attorney-General of the state from 1999 to 2007.<\/p>\n<p>He later became the deputy governor of the state from 2007 to 2015 under the administration of ex-governor Emmanuel Uduaghan.<\/p>\n<p>Following his death, Delta Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has sent condolences to his family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe deceased was a world-class academic scholar whose teachings and research undertakings had contributed immensely to the Nigerian legal profession and jurisprudence,\u201d the statement read.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn behalf of the government and people of Delta, I mourn the passing of a gentleman, a scholar and astute politician, Professor Amos Agbe Utuama, SAN, who passed on in Warri on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI received the devastating news of his death with great shock.
