Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Federal Government has said it due not direct its workers to change their salary accounts on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).<\/p>\n

The spokesperson for the Office of the Accountant General of the Federation, Mokwa Bawa, made this clarification in a statement on Monday.<\/p>\n

This comes amid speculations that the Federal Government had issued a directive to workers to change their salary accounts on the IPPIS platform.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Office of the Accountant General of the Federation (OAGF) has clarified that no directive has been issued to workers to change the financial institutions registered on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) platform as their salary accounts.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe IPPIS Office gives utmost priority to the well-being of workers and thus will not issue any directive that will mislead, misguide, or cause unnecessary panic to workers,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n

The OAGF explained that whenever there is an application for a change of salary account, such is always a personal decision of the worker concerned, adding that the IPPIS Office has not issued any general directive to that effect as there was no reason to do so.<\/p>\n

The OAGF tasked financial institutions to implement necessary strategies to boost customers\u2019 confidence and guarantee efficient fulfilment of their obligations to persons whose salaries are domiciled in their facilities.<\/p>\n

The statement noted that there are agencies that are statutorily mandated to determine the health as well as viability of financial institutions and expressed optimism that those agencies are up to their tasks.<\/p>\n

The statement further advised workers that may have genuine reasons to change their salary accounts on the IPPIS platform to follow the official procedures.<\/p>\n

The wish to change salary accounts is coming amid the challenge of internet service disruption in some Nigerian banks in the last weeks.<\/p>\n
