Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A suspected armed robber was beaten to death by an angry mob while robbing the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Makurdi, Benue State.<\/p>\n

The incident occurred on Wednesday behind Modern market in Makurdi town.<\/p>\n

The suspected armed robber allegedly broke into the church building and stole some items.<\/p>\n

He was said to be on the prowl when some youths from the area accosted and hacked him to death.<\/p>\n

The corpse of the suspected robber was lying in a pool of blood while passersby who were on their way to midweek service and market were seen running away from the scene.<\/p>\n

The Benue State Command Police Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident.<\/p>\n

Anene stated that the Police couldn\u2019t ascertain on whether the deceased was actually a robber as nobody has come to make formal report of any church theft.<\/p>\n

She said the corpse has been deposited at a morgue in Makurdi.<\/p>\n
