{"id":137551,"date":"2024-11-08T17:03:49","date_gmt":"2024-11-08T16:03:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/two-vigilante-operatives-killed-as-police-others-foil-bandit-attacks-in-katsina"},"modified":"2024-11-08T18:27:25","modified_gmt":"2024-11-08T17:27:25","slug":"two-vigilante-operatives-killed-as-police-others-foil-bandit-attacks-in-katsina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/two-vigilante-operatives-killed-as-police-others-foil-bandit-attacks-in-katsina","title":{"rendered":"Two vigilante operatives killed as Police, others foil bandit attacks in Katsina"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Operatives of the Katsina State Police Command, in collaboration with the Nigerian Military, members of the State Community Watch Corps and vigilantes, have foiled simultaneous attacks in Jibia township.<\/p>\n<p>ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, Police Public Relations Officer, Katsina State Police Command, disclosed this in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt about 2115 hrs (9:15 pm), suspected armed bandits launched coordinated attacks on Ka\u2019ida, Unguwar One Boy, and Danmarke quarters, all in Jibia Township, Jibia LGA, Katsina State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe swift response of the joint security team led by the DPO Jibia repelled the attackers, resulting in a fierce gun duel that lasted for over an hour,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>The statement added that the superior firepower and tactical advantage of the joint security team eventually forced the bandits to retreat with unspecified casualties.<\/p>\n<p>The operation resulted in the successful rescue of 16 victims trapped by the bandits.<\/p>\n<p>According to the statement, five persons sustained gunshot injuries as a result of the bandits\u2019 attack.<\/p>\n<p>The injured victims were rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention.<\/p>\n<p>Also, according to the statement, one member of the Katsina State Community Watch Corps and a vigilante member lost their lives during the encounter.<\/p>\n<p>The Command noted that, in collaboration with sister security agencies, it is making efforts to ensure the arrest of the bandits.<\/p>\n<p>The Commissioner of Police, Katsina State Police Command, CP Aliyu Abubakar Musa, reassured the public of the Command\u2019s commitment to safeguarding lives and properties in the state.<\/p>\n<p>He further urged citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the nearest Police Station or through the Command\u2019s emergency numbers: 0815 967 7777 and<\/p>\n<p>0707 272 2539.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About Nigeria Follow Africa-Press<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
