{"id":13835,"date":"2019-08-06T14:25:55","date_gmt":"2019-08-06T14:25:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=13835"},"modified":"2019-08-06T14:25:55","modified_gmt":"2019-08-06T14:25:55","slug":"power-generation-hovers-around-2886-1mw","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/power-generation-hovers-around-2886-1mw","title":{"rendered":"Power generation hovers around 2,886.1Mw"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>From 2,672Mw power generation on Sunday, the electricity generation companies (Gencos) on Monday marginally increased their output to 2,886.1Mw.<\/p>\n<p>According to the \u201cOperational Report of 05\/08\/2019\u201d the Nigerian System Operator of the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) posted on its website Tuesday, the peak energy generation that the companies recorded on Sunday was 4,437.6Mw.<\/p>\n<div class=\"jeg_ad jeg_ad_article jnews_content_inline_2_ads  \">\n<div class=\"ads-wrapper align-left \">\n<div class=\"ads_code\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The report added that energy recorded on 4\/08\/2019 was 79,708.99MWH, which was 3,212.2Mw.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to the question of why power generation was hovering around 2,886.1Mw, the Executive Director, Association of Power Generation Company, Barrister Joy Ogaji, urged The Nation to find out from the TCN.<\/p>\n<p>The TCN had in its Friday daily report noted that six generation firms, which include Alaoji NIPP; Olorunsogu NIPP; ASCO; AES and Trans Amadi, which are all gas-fired plants produced 0Mw.<\/p>\n<p>According to the TCN, Kainji Hydro put out its units 6, 11, and 12 because of low demand by the electricity distribution companies known as DisCos.<\/p>\n<p>The report also noted while Jebba Hydro switched off its 2 G1 as a result of maintenance, it also put off its 2G2 &amp;4 because of \u201clow demand by the DisCos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Shiroro hydro, said the report, put out 411G1 owing to \u201clow demand by DisCos.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It noted that Delta (Gas) GT15 &amp; 16 shutdown because of low demand by DisCos. Geregu also shut down GT 11 due to low demand by DisCos.<\/p>\n<p>Trans Amadi\u2019s G1, said the report, is out on maintenance, while its G#2, 3 and 4 were out due to gas constraints.<\/p>\n<p>The report also said that Rivers GT1 reduced generation due to low demand by DisCos.<\/p>\n<p>Other constraints that the report indicated were low gas pressure, generation problems, awaiting overhaul and limited generation due to gas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>From 2,672Mw power generation on Sunday, the electricity generation companies (Gencos) on Monday marginally increased their output to 2,886.1Mw.
