Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Amid economic hardship and worsening poverty in the country, former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Kingsley Moghalu has stated that hope is not a strategy.<\/p>\n

This is even as he said that he\u2019s hopeful about Nigeria despite sustained contemporary difficulties.<\/p>\n

Moghalu maintained that the country needed to improve state capacity for effective governance.<\/p>\n

According to him, Nigerians must learn to be honest with themselves and address the root causes of their problems.<\/p>\n

In a post on his X handle on Friday, Moghalu wrote: \u201cDespite sustained contemporary difficulties, I am hopeful about Nigeria.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut hope is not a strategy. We need to improve state capacity for effective governance. We either fix our problems, or our problems will eventually \u2018fix\u2019 us. No alternative to a renegotiated union.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe must learn to be honest with ourselves and address the root causes of our problems. Why ignore them, when the problem is actually quite solvable?<\/p>\n

\u201cThe problem with continuing with this approach is that when the danger crystallizes, those who thought they were benefiting from the status quo will find that we ALL \u2013 they included- will be losers.\u201d<\/p>\n
