The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), on Thursday, August 8, urged the Department of State Services (DSS) to speak out on the reported claims that its men were involved in the violent abduction of Abubakar Idris, its new media personality.<\/p>\n
Popularly known as Abu Hanifa Dadiyata, Idris was said to have been missing since Friday, August 2.<\/p>\n
The opposition party accused the DSS of refusing to say anything about the disappearance of Dadiyata, who it described as an activist, especially despite claims that officers of the secret police service participated in the reported abduction.<\/p>\n
\u201cMore so, Idris is known for his fierce criticism of anti-people policies of the APC and its administration, particularly in Kano state.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere are already public insinuations that Dadiyata\u2019s abduction to an unknown destination is not unconnected with an apparent desperation to intimidate, suppress and silence public opinion and free speech in Nigeria as well as to further entrench a siege mentality on our citizenry,\u201d a statement by Kola Ologbondiyan, national publicity secretary of the party, said.<\/p>\n
The party demanded that the DSS high command speak out as well as take urgent steps to secure the release of Dadiyata from his abductors.<\/p>\n
It noted that the Nigerian polity is already overheated and that any delay in the release of Dadiyata could cause tension, especially in Kano state, where he reportedly commands a very large followership.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
