Unlike some Nigerians who faulted President Muhammadu Buhari\u2019s directive to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) not to issue forex for food importation, Senator Shehu Sani, has applauded the President, saying the directive was a step in the right direction.<\/p>\n
Buhari had on Tuesday gave the directive to the CBN, asking the apex bank in the country to cease providing foreign exchange for importation of food into the country.<\/p>\n
He had based the directive on the supposition that there is currently \u201csteady improvement in agricultural production, and attainment of full food security,\u201d in the country.<\/p>\n
Some Nigerians, including a former deputy governor of CBN, Kingsley Moghalu, and an ex-Education Minister, Oby Ezekwesili, had faulted the directive by Buhari.<\/p>\n
However Sani, who represented Kaduna Central at the 8th Senate, are among Nigerians who think differently.<\/p>\n
In a tweet on his Twitter handle on Wednesday, he applauded Buhari and argued that the directive would boost food production in the country.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe presidential directive to the CBN to stop issuance of Forex for food importation is the right step forward. It will boost food production at home.<\/p>\n
