Maybe petrol lifting will recommence,\u201d he told DAILY POST.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST earlier contacted the spokesperson of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Olufemi Soneye, Saturday morning on the development, but he did not immediately respond to the inquiry.<\/p>\n<p>NNPC, on 26 November, announced that petrol lifting has commenced at the Port Harcourt refinery after it gulped $1.5 billion, which was approved in 2021 for its rehabilitation.<\/p>\n<p>The development was greeted with both optimism and pessimism.<\/p>\n<p>NNPC had announced that over 200 trucks loaded petrol from the facility.<\/p>\n<p>However, contrary claims emerged that only 10 trucks lifted petrol on the inauguration day.<\/p>\n<p>There were claims also that the petrol products lifted on the inauguration day were old stocks.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, reacting later to the report of the plant being shut down, Soneye, in a statement, reiterated that \u2018Port Harcourt Refinery is fully operational.\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe attention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPC Ltd has been drawn to reports in a section of the media alleging that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago, has been shut down.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe wish to clarify that such reports are totally false, as the refinery is fully operational, as verified a few days ago by former Group Managing Directors of NNPC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPreparation for the day\u2019s loading operation is currently ongoing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMembers of the public are advised to discountenance such reports as they are the figments of the imagination of those who want to create artificial scarcity and rip off Nigerians,\u201d Soneye stated.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
