{"id":144841,"date":"2025-01-04T14:42:33","date_gmt":"2025-01-04T13:42:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/lawyer-accuses-kano-anti-corruption-commission-of-disregarding-court-orders"},"modified":"2025-01-04T15:56:35","modified_gmt":"2025-01-04T14:56:35","slug":"lawyer-accuses-kano-anti-corruption-commission-of-disregarding-court-orders","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/lawyer-accuses-kano-anti-corruption-commission-of-disregarding-court-orders","title":{"rendered":"Lawyer accuses Kano anti-corruption commission of disregarding court orders"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Counsel to the former Managing Director of the Kano Agricultural Supply Company (KASCO), Tahir Ibrahim, has accused the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC) of flouting court orders in a case involving his client, Bala Mohammed.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim, who represents Mohammed, urged the Chairman of the PCACC, Muhuyi Rimin-Gado, to adhere to a court ruling that had vacated an order allowing the confiscation of his client\u2019s assets.<\/p>\n<p>This latest controversy comes as the PCACC investigates Mohammed for alleged financial mismanagement during his tenure at KASCO.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to reporters on Friday evening, Ibrahim condemned the actions of the anti-corruption agency.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are urging Muhuyi to respect the court\u2019s decision and let the officials carry out their duties according to the law.<\/p>\n<p>The court has already vacated the order allowing him to seize Bala Inuwa\u2019s properties,\u201d Ibrahim said.<\/p>\n<p>The lawyer accused Rimin-Gado of undermining the judicial process by refusing to comply with the court\u2019s directives. \u201cMuhuyi does not have the authority to confiscate Mohammed\u2019s properties.<\/p>\n<p>He must follow the court order, which instructed that all of Mohammed\u2019s bank accounts be unfrozen, the police leave his company, Limestone Processing Company, and that a N3 million fine be paid as damages,\u201d Ibrahim emphasized.<\/p>\n<p>Ibrahim further stressed the importance of upholding the rule of law, asserting that the actions of the PCACC were an abuse of the court process. \u201cWe are also calling on the police to comply with the law, as no one is above it.
