Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Joint Task Force of Operation Hadin Kai in the North-East has imposed a ban on the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), commonly referred to as drones, across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states.<\/p>\n

Air Commodore U.U. Idris, the Air Component Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, issued the directive in a signal obtained by Daily Trust, citing security risks posed by unauthorized drone operations in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe proliferation of drones for domestic and commercial purposes has led to serious security concerns,\u201d Idris stated, emphasizing that non-state actors and criminal groups could exploit drones for subversive activities.<\/p>\n

The statement also highlighted the frequent disregard for regulations by government agencies and private individuals operating drones without prior authorization from the Air Component. Idris noted that drones have increasingly been used by adversaries to target military assets and critical national infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Recent incidents, such as the interception of a drone aboard an NGO flight from Maiduguri to Monguno on January 7, 2025, have further underscored the potential risks. The confiscated drone is under investigation, reflecting broader concerns about the unauthorized use of drones in the theater.<\/p>\n

To mitigate these threats, Operation Hadin Kai\u2019s Air Component has reinforced its mandate to monitor and regulate aerial operations, ensuring the safety and security of the airspace in Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ban on drone operations in the North-East Theater remains in effect as directed by the Superior Authority. Any breach of this restriction, no matter how minor, will be taken very seriously,\u201d Idris warned.<\/p>\n

The directive calls on all stakeholders to strictly adhere to the regulation, underscoring the need for compliance to safeguard the region\u2019s security and prevent potential threats.<\/p>\n
