Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The youth wing of apex Igbo socio-cultural organization, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has lambasted Governor Chukwuma Soludo of Anambra State over his remarks that the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu may not end insecurity in the South-East.<\/p>\n

This is also as the group urged Seyi Tinubu, the son of President Bola Tinubu to prevail on the number one citizen towards fulfilling the promise allegedly made to Nnamdi Kanu\u2019s family.<\/p>\n

In a statement made available to journalists on Thursday by Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, he said the likes of Soludo should be ignored.<\/p>\n

Soludo had while speaking to reporters late last year, declared that: \u201cEven if Nnamdi Kanu is released today, I\u2019m not sure they would listen to him because what they now pursue is wealth, not liberation.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey have become enemies of the people they claim to protect. Who are they fighting for when they kidnap and kill their own people?\u201d<\/p>\n

On his part, Kanu\u2019s brother, Kanunta, said the family had an agreement with President Bola Tinubu for the release of the Biafra agitator.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that he had the pact with Tinubu\u2019s son, Seyi during the build-up to the 2023 presidential election and that the president was aware of the pact.<\/p>\n

Okwu has now enjoined the President to honour the said agreement, which he said would bring about enduring peace in the South-East.<\/p>\n

According to him, \u201cwe find it curious that any Igbo man, let alone a sitting governor will throw spanners into the pressing demand for the release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.<\/p>\n

\u201cGovernor Soludo has for long demonstrated lack of capacity to curb insecurity in Anambra State, and finds easy blame on anyone else except himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is why he found it so convenient to play down the role Nnamdi Kanu\u2019s release will play towards stabilizing the South-East.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ohanaeze youths president, however, urged the President Bola Tinubu-led government to honour the said pact allegedly reached with Nnamdi Kanu\u2019s family, stressing that \u201cit is no doubt a tonic to the endless tension in Igbo land.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe know that Mr President is a man of honour; he should not allow the likes of Soludo to mislead him.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe should do Ndigbo a great favour by ordering the unconditional release of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. This will no doubt de-escalate tension in the South-East region,\u201d Okwu further stated.<\/p>\n
