{"id":14920,"date":"2019-09-01T16:16:31","date_gmt":"2019-09-01T16:16:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=14920"},"modified":"2019-09-01T16:16:31","modified_gmt":"2019-09-01T16:16:31","slug":"deposit-bad-notes-in-banks-monday-cbn-tells-customers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/deposit-bad-notes-in-banks-monday-cbn-tells-customers","title":{"rendered":"Deposit bad notes in banks Monday, CBN tells customers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/economy\/cbn-sets-lending-limits-for-banks\">Central Bank of Nigeria<\/a> has directed customers to deposit mutilated naira notes in any bank branch closer to them.<\/p>\n<p>The apex bank said this was part of its efforts to improve the overall quality of the naira notes in circulation.<\/p>\n<p>The information was contained in an email message sent by the Guaranty Trust Bank to its customers on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Entitled, \u2018Important CBN Notice on Naira Notes,\u2019 the email read, \u201cAs part of its efforts to improve the overall quality of the naira notes in circulation, the Central Bank of Nigeria has introduced the Clean Note Policy and Bank Notes Fitness Guidelines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat does this mean for you? If you have in your possession, overused or mutilated naira notes, you are required by the Central Bank of Nigeria Clean Note Policy to deposit such notes at any (bank) branch near you on or before Monday, September 2, 2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease note that overused notes include any naira note that is now weak to such an extent that it could easily tear at further handling or processing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It added, \u201cMutilated notes include any naira note that has been partially or permanently damaged, but which clearly still has more than half of its original size together.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Nigerians, it is our patriotic and collective responsibility to handle the naira with care; and as your bank, we urge you to comply with this directive in order to improve the quality of our national currency.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Central Bank of Nigeria has directed customers to deposit mutilated naira notes in any bank branch closer to them.
