Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The police in Ogun State have rescued seven individuals from a suspected human trafficking ring in the Oja-Odan area of Yewa North Local Government Area of the state.<\/p>\n

The rescued victims are Emmanuel Anyigor, 25; Chidioke Basil, 20; Osondu Marvellous, 19; John Peter Ogar, 18; Emecheta Chimaodi, 18; Ifeanyi Uchechukwu, 18; and Anizoba Emmanuel, 18.<\/p>\n

The victims were allegedly being transported to the Republic of Gambia before security operatives intervened.<\/p>\n

Confirming the incident on Friday, police spokesperson Omolola Odutola said the victims, who were transported in a white Volkswagen bus with registration number KRD 28 YL, were rescued on Monday along the Oja-Odan\/Ohunbe Road.<\/p>\n

According to her, the vehicle, marked as belonging to the Government of Anambra State, was driven by one Ezeani John Paul, a resident of Ichida, Anaocha Local Government Area, Anambra State.<\/p>\n

Odutola noted that when questioned, the occupants were unable to provide a satisfactory explanation regarding their journey to the Republic of Gambia.<\/p>\n

Following this, the driver and several other passengers in the vehicle were arrested and detained by the command.<\/p>\n

Odutola said: \u201cFollowing the discovery, the driver and passengers were apprehended by security personnel. Investigations into the case are ongoing, and authorities have stated that all suspects, along with the intercepted vehicle, will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further enquiries.\u201d<\/p>\n
