{"id":150358,"date":"2025-02-14T22:27:11","date_gmt":"2025-02-14T21:27:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/three-kaduna-state-assembly-members-defect-from-pdp-to-apc"},"modified":"2025-02-20T14:58:37","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T13:58:37","slug":"three-kaduna-state-assembly-members-defect-from-pdp-to-apc","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/three-kaduna-state-assembly-members-defect-from-pdp-to-apc","title":{"rendered":"Three Kaduna State Assembly members defect from PDP to APC"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Three members of the Kaduna State House of Assembly have defected from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, citing alignment with the state government\u2019s leadership.<\/p>\n<p>The legislators are Henry Mara of Jaba Constituency, Emmanuel Kantiok, Zonkwa Constituency, and Samuel Kambai, Zango Constituency, all announced their decision on Thursday in their respective wards.<\/p>\n<p>In separate phone interviews, they attributed their defection to Governor Uba Sani\u2019s governance, which they believe has significantly impacted the state.<\/p>\n<p>Their move follows a similar defection by Amos Magaji, the lawmaker representing Zangon Kataf\/Jaba Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, just two days earlier.<\/p>\n<p>According to the lawmakers, joining the ruling party would enhance their ability to serve their constituents effectively.<\/p>\n<p>Mara described the shift in Southern Kaduna\u2019s political landscape as inevitable, saying that the PDP\u2019s long-standing dominance in the region is weakening.<\/p>\n<p>He hinted at the possibility of more defections from the opposition party.<\/p>\n<p>Kambai, on his part stated that Governor Sani\u2019s achievements had transformed the perception of the APC, reducing hostility toward the party and diminishing the opposition\u2019s influence.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, \u201cSouthern Kaduna has historically supported the PDP but Governor Sani\u2019s leadership is reshaping that trend.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kantiok acknowledged the security challenges that plagued Kaduna in previous years but credited the governor\u2019s efforts for the relative peace now experienced and vowed to support initiatives that sustain the progress recorded so far.<\/p>\n<p>With these defections, the balance of power in the Kaduna State House of Assembly may continue to shift in favor of the APC.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
