Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned what it described as a coordinated attack on its members by suspected political thugs, calling for an immediate investigation and justice for the victims.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued in Gusau on Saturday, the APC Publicity Secretary, Yusuf Idris, alleged that the attack was carried out by sponsored thugs targeting party members on their way to Bungudu town for a political event.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur members were attacked by some suspected political thugs while moving from Gusau to Bungudu town for a function organised by a lawmaker, Abdulmalik Zubairu,\u201d Idris stated.<\/p>\n

According to him, the event was meant to inaugurate over N1 billion worth of empowerment projects executed by Zubairu for his constituents, but party supporters never made it safely to the venue due to the violent ambush.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe political thugs openly and strategically stationed themselves along the Gusau to Bungudu Road to perpetrate the attack. This led to the destruction of many vehicles and injuries to their occupants simply because they are APC members,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The party described the attack as condemnable and unacceptable.<\/p>\n

He urged security agencies to immediately swing into action and bring the perpetrators to justice.<\/p>\n

He assured party members that the APC would not tolerate intimidation or harassment and vowed that those responsible would face the consequences.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe APC will continue to maintain its position as the strongest political party in Zamfara State, and nobody will intimidate us. The state APC chapter is hereby warning politicians in the state who always attack its members and property, especially when the party is organising or carrying out an activity,\u201d Idris warned.<\/p>\n

While urging members to remain calm, he assured them that the party would pursue justice for those affected.<\/p>\n
