<\/p>\nChinese President Xi Jinping\u2019s special envoy on Thursday met with
\nPresident Muhammadu Buhari on mutual exchange and bilateral
\ncooperation.<\/p>\n
A statement by the embassy of the People\u2019s Republic of China in Abuja
\ndisclosed that Xi\u2019s envoy was Yang Jiechi.<\/p>\n
Yang is also a member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee
\nof the Communist Party of China (CPC).<\/p>\n
He said his meeting was for both countries to further increase
\nhigh-level exchanges and strengthen bilateral cooperation in
\ninternational and regional affairs.<\/p>\n
Yang said: \u201cWith the personal support and guidance from President Xi
\nJinping and President Muhammadu Buhari, China and Nigeria have
\nenhanced political trust, and our relationship has enjoyed fast
\ndevelopment.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
\u201cChina and Nigeria are the most populous and largest economies in Asia
\nand Africa respectively. We are both big developing countries with
\nimportant influence, with a bright future for development.<\/p>\n
\u201cChina and Nigeria should further increase high-level exchanges, strengthen bilateral cooperation in international and regional affairs, and support each other on issues concerning each other\u2019s core interests and major concerns.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe practical cooperation in various fields between China and Nigeria
\nhas achieved positive progress and benefited the people of the two
\ncountries.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Chinese side encourages more Chinese companies to invest in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe should continue to work hand in hand to develop the Belt and Road Initiative, implement the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) and constantly enrich the
\nChina-Nigeria Strategic Partnership.\u201d<\/p>\n
Buhari asked Yang to convey his cordial greetings to Jinping, adding that China is an important partner of Nigeria.<\/p>\n
He commended China for its strong support for the economic and social development of Nigeria and welcomed more Chinese companies to invest in the country.<\/p>\n
Buhari commended the Belt and Road Initiative, adding that Nigeria
\nwould work with China to implement the outcomes of the FOCAC Beijing
\nSummit and take the Nigeria-China strategic partnership to a new
