{"id":151462,"date":"2025-02-19T17:54:22","date_gmt":"2025-02-19T16:54:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/align-your-services-with-contemporary-methods-gov-eno-charges-tbas"},"modified":"2025-02-20T23:23:39","modified_gmt":"2025-02-20T22:23:39","slug":"align-your-services-with-contemporary-methods-gov-eno-charges-tbas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/align-your-services-with-contemporary-methods-gov-eno-charges-tbas","title":{"rendered":"Align your services with contemporary methods \u2013 Gov Eno charges TBAs"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Akwa Ibom State governor, Pastor Umo Eno has encouraged Traditional Birth Attendants, TBAs, in the state to reinvent methods of carrying out their duties to be at par with modern realities.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at the 2025 TBAs State Convention in Uyo themed \u2018Maternal Care and Personal Hygiene\u2019, the governor explained that as society evolves, old approaches are being subjected to modern and advanced methods for wholesome and positive outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Eno who admitted that TBAs provide essential services at the communities, said all that was needed was for them to o be trained and be aligned with current methods.<\/p>\n<p>He, therefore, pledged the readiness of the state government to train and certify them in line with contemporary practices even as he promised to upgrade and integrate them in the primary healthcare system upon completion of training.<\/p>\n<p>Eno announced that more health facilities would be built across the federal constituencies where the TBAs can make referrals easily.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cAs society evolves, and old approaches get subjected to modern and advanced methods to ensure wholesome and holistic outcomes, I wish to implore and advice that, you also, if I may add, reinvent your methods of carrying out your duties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are willing to partner with you to train, supervise and certify your members so that the service you provide are aligned with contemporary methods thus making it more acceptable to the larger society.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are doing a lot in healthcare service. Soon, we will flag-off our Mother-Child Hospital to be located along our Medical Corridor. We are building more primary healthcare facilities across the ten federal constituencies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce the trainings are concluded, you will be assigned to these primary healthcare facilities where your skills garnered traditionally will align with trainings you have received and we will all be winners.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, the President, Akwa Ibom State Traditional Birth Attendants, Comrade Otobong George, thanked the governor for identifying with them and showing interest in bringing innovation to their profession.<\/p>\n<p>He explained the importance of TBAs in the provision of immediate care in the case of inaccessibility to medical facilities and called on government to support the institution\u2019s drive to better the practice by making relevant laws that would regulate activities of practitioners and ensure adequate control.<\/p>\n<p>Also speaking at the event, representatives of The Challenged Initiative, TCI, a Non-Governmental Organisation that focuses on family planning and reproductive health, stressed on the need for TBAs to incorporate family planning advocacies in their services.<\/p>\n<p>They noted that such advocacies would not only enhance childbirth spacing and control but would reduce maternal mortality in the communities and improve the economic lives of families.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Nigeria<\/span> Follow <span style=\"color: #ff6600\">Africa-Press<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria.
