Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has sacked all district heads and traditional titleholders in the newly created emirates and chiefdoms in the state.<\/p>\n

Fintiri made the announcement on Wednesday in Gulak while presenting the staff of office to the new Chief of Madagali, Ali Danburam.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll district heads and traditional titleholders who acquired titles from their old emirates and chiefdoms are to be removed with immediate effect.<\/p>\n

\u201cI call on all the affected district heads to transfer their loyalty, rights, and privileges to the new emirates and chiefdoms,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

It may be recalled that in December, the governor created seven new emirates and chiefdoms, bringing the total number in the state to 14.<\/p>\n

The State House of Assembly passed the Adamawa State Chiefs and Matters Incidental Thereto bill into law on 10 December, a day after receiving the executive bill.<\/p>\n

The new chiefdoms and emirates include the Huba Chiefdom, with its headquarters in Hong and a second-class chief; Madagali Chiefdom, with its headquarters in Gulak and a second-class chief; and Michika Chiefdom, with its headquarters in Michika and a second-class chief.<\/p>\n

Others are Fufore Emirate, with its headquarters in Fufore and a second-class chief; Gombi Chiefdom, with its headquarters in Gombi and a third-class ruler; Yungur Chiefdom, with its headquarters in Dumne and a third-class chief; and Maiha Emirate, with its headquarters in Maiha and a third-class chief.<\/p>\n

The governor appointed emirs and chiefs for the emirates and chiefdoms on 3 January, with Wednesday\u2019s event in Gulak being one in a series of staff of office presentations to traditional rulers.<\/p>\n

It was gathered that the new emirate law empowers the governor to depose incapacitated traditional rulers.<\/p>\n
