Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Abia State Government has issued a strong warning to civil servants to desist from collecting money for the issuance of Gen 35 Forms or face severe consequences.<\/p>\n

The Head of Service, Mr Benson Ojeikere, in a meeting with Senior Management Staff of the Office of the Head of Service, HOS, in Umuahia, made it clear that it is part of the present administration\u2019s efforts to clean up the mess in the State\u2019s civil service as well as promote a culture of transparency and integrity.<\/p>\n

According to the Head of Service, it is now a grievous offense for any civil or public servant to engage in the sale, parading, or distribution of Gen 35 forms within government establishments, adding that no staff is henceforth authorized to charge any money under any guise in the discharge of their duties.<\/p>\n

Mr Ojeikere who reiterated that civil service is no longer business as usual made it clear that civil servants found guilty of violating the new directive will face heavy sanctions in line with the Public Service Rules, maintaining that no stone will be left unturned in the efforts to nip corruption in the bud within the Service.<\/p>\n

He charged staff of office of the Head of Service to be shining examples of who the ideal civil servant should be.<\/p>\n
