Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A desperate quest for wealth has led to the arrest of three suspects now facing charges of conspiracy and attempted miscarriage for ritual purposes.<\/p>\n

Martha Andrew, James Luka, and Johnson John, all residents of Minna, Niger State, were apprehended by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, on 17 February 2025.<\/p>\n

Reports indicate that they attempted to lure a pregnant woman into terminating her pregnancy for ritual purposes in exchange for a staggering N30 million.<\/p>\n

According to sources, the trio approached the woman, a resident of Rafin-Yashi, Minna, with an offer to buy her six-month-old foetus for a ritual.<\/p>\n

However, the woman had other plans.<\/p>\n

Feigning compliance, she played along until she felt threatened, at which point she alerted the police.<\/p>\n

Acting swiftly, officers tracked down the suspects and arrested them near a hotel along Eastern Bye-Pass, Minna.<\/p>\n

During interrogation, the Niger State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Wasiu Abiodun, revealed that the suspects confessed to the crime, admitting they had a buyer\u2014one Gbege, currently at large\u2014who had offered N30 million for the unborn child.<\/p>\n

In his statement, Abiodun said: \u201cThe suspects conspired among themselves and attempted to take a pregnant victim from the Rafin-Yashi area of Minna to one Gbege, who is presently at large.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey lured the victim with a promise to pay her thirty million naira to terminate her six-month-old pregnancy for ritual purposes.\u201d<\/p>\n

Efforts are ongoing to track down and apprehend Gbege.<\/p>\n
