Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The Galadima Muri of the Muri Emirate and District Head of Jalingo, Lamindo Abba Tukur, has called on farmers and traders spread across Taraba State to alleviate the financial burden on the poor by lowering food prices.<\/p>\n

Speaking during his 40th anniversary celebration on the throne in Jalingo over the weekend, the traditional ruler expressed deep concern over the rising cost of food items, which he described as worsening economic conditions for low-income earners.<\/p>\n

He expressed worry that the daily increase in food prices is making life more difficult for indigent persons and appealed to both farmers and traders to consider the plight of the poor and reduce the prices of food items,<\/p>\n

He warned that the continuous devaluation of the Naira against food costs is a distressing trend, which, if not addressed, could plunge many into severe economic hardship.<\/p>\n

During the event, the Galadima also lauded the efforts of Governor Agbu Kefas in combating insecurity across Taraba State, noting that the progress made in curbing banditry has significantly improved the lives of residents.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy decision to celebrate 40 years on the throne today is largely due to Governor Kefas\u2019 relentless fight against insecurity in Taraba,\u201d he remarked.<\/p>\n

The governor\u2019s efforts, as made known by him, \u201chave brought peace, not only in Jalingo but across the state, enabling people to return to their farms and businesses.\u201d<\/p>\n

He emphasized that as a traditional ruler, his primary concern is the well-being of his people, noting that previous security challenges had hindered economic activities and made life unbearable for many.<\/p>\n

\u201cI sincerely commend Governor Agbu Kefas for his outstanding fight against insecurity, which is gradually restoring normalcy and hope for our people,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
