{"id":152610,"date":"2025-02-24T18:35:54","date_gmt":"2025-02-24T17:35:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/prevail-on-states-to-waive-right-of-way-fees-on-telecoms-infrastructure-nipss-to-tinubu"},"modified":"2025-02-27T00:03:12","modified_gmt":"2025-02-26T23:03:12","slug":"prevail-on-states-to-waive-right-of-way-fees-on-telecoms-infrastructure-nipss-to-tinubu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/prevail-on-states-to-waive-right-of-way-fees-on-telecoms-infrastructure-nipss-to-tinubu","title":{"rendered":"Prevail on states to waive Right of Way Fees on telecoms infrastructure \u2013 NIPSS to Tinubu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Participants of the Senior Executive Course 46 of National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, NIPSS, Kuru has urged President Bola Tinubu to expedite the enactment of the Digital Economy and e-Governance Bill 2024.<\/p>\n<p>NIPSS also wants the President to encourage states to waive the Right of Way fees on deployment of telecom infrastructure across the country.<\/p>\n<p>The suggestions came on Monday, while Tinubu received a report titled \u201cDigital Economy, Youth Empowerment and Sustainable Job Creation in Nigeria: Issues, Challenges and Opportunities,\u201d presented by participants of the Senior Executive Course 46 National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru.<\/p>\n<p>Tinubu said the federal government will continue to prioritise the development of the digital economy to enhance youth empowerment and job creation.<\/p>\n<p>Among other recommendations, the course participants asked the President to issue an Executive Order mandating all MDAs to migrate to the OneGov.ng portal.<\/p>\n<p>They advocated adopting a Quintuple-Helix Model to promote the digital economy, youth empowerment, and sustainable job creation.<\/p>\n<p>Other recommendations were promoting long-term funding for the 3MTT scheme, accelerating the transition from IPv4 to IPv6, establishing Digital Health Innovation Hubs across Nigeria, and developing a preventive maintenance application for the nation\u2019s automotive industry.<\/p>\n<p>Responding, President Tinubu directed the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy to coordinate with the group and present their recommendations to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Head of the Civil Service for streamlined implementation.<\/p>\n<p>Emphasising the importance of youth empowerment through innovation and digital skills development, President Tinubu said: \u201cAt the core of our administration is youth empowerment. We cannot relent on that, and we need everyone\u2019s collaboration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have listened carefully to your recommendations and the thorough work you did.
