Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>A social activist and journalist in Kano, Anas Idiris Hassan, has called on the Kano State Hisbah Board and Islamic scholars to intervene and put an end to the increasing trend of political insults and immoral language in the state\u2019s political landscape.<\/p>\n

Expressing his concerns during a media briefing in Kano, Hassan stated that the current level of verbal attacks and disrespect in politics has never been this intense.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have never witnessed such a period of political insults and character assassination as we are seeing now, and the situation is even worse in Kano,\u201d he lamented.<\/p>\n

He urged Islamic scholars to take a stand by condemning this behavior in their sermons and teachings, stressing that their intervention could help reduce or even stop the practice.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf our religious scholars denounce this issue openly on their pulpits and during Islamic lectures, then these politicians who focus on attacking each other will likely reduce or even stop their actions,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

Hassan also called on the Kano Hisbah Board, led by Malam Aminu Ibrahim Daurawa, to take decisive action against politicians who are tarnishing the reputation of Kano in the eyes of the world.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we fear the most is that God may punish the people of Kano because of the actions of a few reckless individuals among us,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n

Hassan strongly condemned the use of social media platforms for spreading insults and promoting immoral acts, particularly in a religious city like Kano.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is a grave sin to use social media to hurl insults at one another and normalize homosexuality in a place like Kano,\u201d he said. \u201cWa iyazubillah! Such words and actions should never come from a Muslim\u2019s tongue.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further warned that if urgent steps are not taken to curb the reckless behavior of some politicians in Kano, they will continue to damage the state\u2019s reputation, which is known for its Islamic scholars and upright citizens.<\/p>\n

He advised politicians to conduct their activities responsibly, cautioning that if political rivalries continue to involve accusations of homosexuality, fornication, prostitution, and insults directed at parents, divine punishment may be inevitable.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet them practice their politics, but if it involves attacking each other with words like homosexuality, fornication, prostitution, and cursing people\u2019s parents, then they should wait and see the wrath of God unless they repent,\u201d he warned.<\/p>\n

Hassan urged the Kano Hisbah Board, the Kano Council of Scholars, and Islamic clerics to publicly take a stance against the offensive language being exchanged among politicians on social media.<\/p>\n

The political conflict, which started in late January 2025, has seen members of the Kwankwasiyya and Gandujiyya camps exchanging accusations, particularly using the term homosexuality to defame each other.<\/p>\n

Hassan expressed deep concern that if left unchecked, young people and children may begin to see such behavior as normal, further corrupting societal values.<\/p>\n
