{"id":153121,"date":"2025-02-27T09:18:16","date_gmt":"2025-02-27T08:18:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/apc-crisis-i-dont-know-if-el-rufai-is-nec-member-party-spokesman-morka"},"modified":"2025-02-27T23:17:12","modified_gmt":"2025-02-27T22:17:12","slug":"apc-crisis-i-dont-know-if-el-rufai-is-nec-member-party-spokesman-morka","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/parties\/apc-crisis-i-dont-know-if-el-rufai-is-nec-member-party-spokesman-morka","title":{"rendered":"APC crisis: I don\u2019t know if El-Rufai is NEC member \u2013 Party spokesman, Morka"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Felix Morka has said that he does not know if a former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is a member of the party\u2019s National Executive Committee, NEC.<\/p>\n<p>DAILY POST reported yesterday that leaders of the ruling party converged at the National Secretariat of the party for its NEC meeting in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was very well attended by all members of the National Working Committee, NWC, as well as members of the Forum of State Chairmen, former governor of Zamfara State, Abdulaziz Yari, Minister of Budget and National Planning, Atiku Bagudu, and Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu.<\/p>\n<p>The leader of the party, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shetimma, Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, were all in attendance.<\/p>\n<p>The NEC meeting comes a day after the national caucus meeting of the party at the Presidential Villa, also in Abuja.<\/p>\n<p>And some of the underlying issues bedeviling the party may have led to the absence of the likes of El-Rufai and former Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Amaechi at the meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Recall that during a recent interview, El-Rufai had accused President Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, NSA, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, of orchestrating his failed ministerial nomination.<\/p>\n<p>He claimed that Tinubu personally did not want him in his cabinet, dismissing the notion that a security report was responsible for his exclusion.<\/p>\n<p>He also accused Ribadu of undermining him due to the NSA\u2019s alleged presidential ambition for 2031.<\/p>\n<p>El-Rufai has also been vocal about the lack of internal democracy in the ruling party.<\/p>\n<p>In an interview on Channels Television\u2019s Politics Today, Wednesday\u2019s edition, the APC mouthpiece said he doubted if El-Rufai is a member of the party\u2019s NEC.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, you know, there was a roll call of eminent members who attended this meeting today. The same way notice was sent to El-Rufai I believe, was how notices were sent to these other members who got the notices and attended.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMany of them don\u2019t live in Abuja but they made plans and traveled to be at this meeting today. If El-Rufai, you know, wanted to be at the meeting, I bet you, he would have come.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy the way, let me not say this, because I don\u2019t know how to check. I don\u2019t know if he\u2019s a member of NEC. Of certainly a member of caucus, but I don\u2019t know that he\u2019s a member of NEC.
