Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Rivers Angels have demanded an apology following a spurious allegation made against the club by Adamawa Queens\u2019 technical adviser, Dadeino Herman.<\/p>\n

The Jewel of Rivers trounced Adamawa Queens 6-0 in a Nigeria Women\u2019s Football League, NWFL matchday six encounter on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cCoach Herman\u2019s claims that Rivers Angels \u2018used the referees\u2019 to gain an advantage in the match are baseless and unacceptable. We find it ironic that she acknowledged our team\u2019s quality players, yet chose to shift the focus to unfounded allegations,\u201d the Port Harcourt club said in a statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cFurthermore, her accusations against the match commissioner and the centre referee are serious and deserve attention from the league body. However, we insist that such allegations should not be used as a smokescreen to deflect attention from the actual outcome of the match.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs a reputable club, Rivers Angels will not stand by and watch while our image is tarnished by unfounded claims.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rivers Angels implore the NWFL to investigate the matter and take appropriate action.<\/p>\n

The former champions currently occupy first position in Group B.<\/p>\n
