{"id":153392,"date":"2025-02-28T09:56:52","date_gmt":"2025-02-28T08:56:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/uncategorized\/id-like-to-welcome-peter-obi-to-apc-valentine-ozigbo"},"modified":"2025-02-28T09:56:52","modified_gmt":"2025-02-28T08:56:52","slug":"id-like-to-welcome-peter-obi-to-apc-valentine-ozigbo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/policy\/id-like-to-welcome-peter-obi-to-apc-valentine-ozigbo","title":{"rendered":"I\u2019d like to welcome Peter Obi to APC\u200a \u2013 Valentine Ozigbo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Days after decamping from the Labour Party, LP, to the All Progressives Congress, APC, Valentine Ozigbo has said he hopes Peter Obi will join him in the ruling party.<\/p>\n<p>Obi was LP\u2019s presidential flagbearer in the 2023 presidential election, a party he joined from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.<\/p>\n<p>Despite its impressive performance in the election, the LP is battling internal crises.<\/p>\n<p>Amid allegations and counter-allegations, some of its members have decided to jump ship.<\/p>\n<p>Ozigbo is the latest LP member to leave, citing the party\u2019s endless crises.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on Channels TV\u2019s Politics Today on Thursday, Ozigbo claimed he informed all the party stakeholders, including Peter Obi, before dumping the party.<\/p>\n<p>Ozigbo said, \u201cI told him a few things, not about coming to the APC, but I would like to welcome him to the APC someday if he so desires.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut here\u2019s the point: I engaged with everybody I needed to engage as much as I could remember to say to them, here are the options.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI had a meeting with Peter Obi. I said to him, \u2018I don\u2019t see myself running for this election in the Labour Party, and I want to make a decision soon.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe day I mentioned to him I was leaving the Labour Party, the next day, I moved to the APC because I had to go and visit the Labour Party and say goodbye to them. And I told them to their face, \u2018You hear the things that have happened. I am not proud of them.
