{"id":15351,"date":"2019-09-12T15:23:58","date_gmt":"2019-09-12T15:23:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=15351"},"modified":"2019-09-12T15:23:58","modified_gmt":"2019-09-12T15:23:58","slug":"nigerian-government-approves-5-3bn-for-ibadan-kano-rail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/nigerian-government-approves-5-3bn-for-ibadan-kano-rail","title":{"rendered":"Nigerian Government Approves $5.3bn For Ibadan-Kano Rail"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Government has approved $5.3bn for the construction of the Ibadan to Kano rail line.<\/p>\n<p>This was disclosed by the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, on Thursday during the third Maritime Stakeholders Interactive Forum.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cJust yesterday, we got approval to complete the $5.3bn Ibadan to Kano rail project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have also applied for funding to commence coastal rail for the Port Harcourt to Warri segment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also disclosed that Minister of State for Transportation, Gbemisola Saraki, would be in charge of all maritime agencies.<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cIn my first term as minister, I completely abandoned the maritime sector to the heads of agencies. This time, that won\u2019t be happening again.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have instructed that the Minister of State for Transportation should personally supervise the maritime agencies, while I just oversee what is happening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are two things I discussed with the President that I will be focusing on in this second term as minister, and they are maritime security and the single window project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have assured the government that by the end of 2020, we should have the single window at our maritime sector.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Nigerian Government has approved $5.3bn for the construction of the Ibadan to Kano rail line.
