Africa-Press – Nigeria. <\/strong><\/span>Chief Great Ogboru\u2019s return to the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Delta State has further divided the party.<\/p>\n

A group identified as Elders and Leaders of Ethiope East Local Government Area, where Ogboru hails from, has previously opposed his return to the party.<\/p>\n

They cited inconsistency and his domineering character as reasons for rejecting his readmission.<\/p>\n

However, the state chapter of APC has strongly refuted the claims made by the Elders and Leaders.<\/p>\n

It dismissed the objections to his re-entry as driven by personal and parochial interests, vowing to resist any attempts to undermine the unity and progress of the party.<\/p>\n

When contacted, the State Publicity Secretary, APC, Delta State, Valentine Onojeghuo, dismissed the assertions as baseless and an attempt to create unnecessary discord within its ranks.<\/p>\n

According to him, the APC constitution does not prohibit any individual from rejoining the party, including those who have previously sought political ambitions through other platforms.<\/p>\n

The party reaffirmed that Ogboru has the constitutional right to rejoin APC, emphasising that his return aligns with the democratic principles guiding the party.<\/p>\n

The party maintained that it operates an open-door policy, welcoming all progressive-minded individuals committed to the party\u2019s vision for a better Delta State and Nigeria.<\/p>\n

The party condemned the alleged opposition from the Ethiope East elders\u2019 group, stating that no individual or faction has the authority to dictate who can or cannot be a member of the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is laughable that a group of individuals without constitutional authority would arrogate to themselves the power to decide membership terms. That privilege remains exclusively with the National Working Committee of the party.<\/p>\n

\u201cOgboru is a household name and a major political force in Delta State. His return will strengthen the APC\u2019s structure and prospects ahead of future political engagements,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the party highlighted the ongoing growth of APC in Delta State, citing a significant influx of defectors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, assuring both old and new members of equal opportunities to participate in party affairs without discrimination.<\/p>\n

It also warned that any attempts to disrupt Ogboru\u2019s re-entry would be considered gross misconduct, with severe disciplinary action to follow.<\/p>\n

APC further reaffirmed its commitment to welcoming Ogboru and his supporters back into the party on 9th March 2025 as planned, urging party members and stakeholders to disregard divisive rhetoric and focus on building a formidable platform for good governance in Delta State.<\/p>\n

The party invites all well-meaning stakeholders to participate in the re-entry event, reiterating its dedication to unity and inclusivity within its ranks.<\/p>\n
