{"id":15452,"date":"2019-09-14T15:55:20","date_gmt":"2019-09-14T15:55:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.com\/nigeria\/?p=15452"},"modified":"2019-09-14T15:55:20","modified_gmt":"2019-09-14T15:55:20","slug":"ogun-tribunal-upholds-gov-abioduns-election","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/nigeria\/all-news\/ogun-tribunal-upholds-gov-abioduns-election","title":{"rendered":"Ogun: Tribunal upholds Gov Abiodun\u2019s election"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The governorship election petition tribunal sitting in <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Ogun_State\">Ogun State<\/a> on Saturday September 14, dismissed the petition filed by Hon Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) against the election of Gov Dapo Abiodun of the <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/All_Progressives_Congress\">All Progressives Congress<\/a> (APC).<\/p>\n<p>The tribunal held that Akinlade and the APM failed to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the election was marred with irregularities.<\/p>\n<p>The Yusuf Halilu-led tribunal said the petitioners erred in their burden of proof by calling only 35 witnesses out of over 1000 pilling units where they alleged non-compliance with the electoral act.<\/p>\n<p>The tribunal held that the petitioners\u2019 witnesses admitted that they signed the copies of result sheets at their various units without being compelled to do so.
